Question 1

What is the difference between the Volvo XC40, XC60 and XC90?

Accepted Answer

The XC40 is the compact one, the XC60 mid-sized and the XC90 the largest, with three rows and seven seats. The XC60 and XC90 share their platform and engines with Volvo's 60 and 90 series saloons and estates.

Question 2

Which generation of used Volvo XC60 should I look for?

Accepted Answer

The first XC60, built from 2008 to 2017, offered five-cylinder diesels and a six-cylinder T6 petrol. The second, from 2017, has only 2.0-litre four-cylinders, including the T8 plug-in hybrid, and newer driver-assistance systems.

Question 3

Does every used Volvo SUV have all-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

No: the XC40 and XC60 also came with front-wheel drive on smaller engines, so for Swiss winters look for the AWD badge or a T6 or T8 plug-in, whose rear wheels are driven electrically. Most XC90s have all-wheel drive.

Question 4

Which new Volvo SUVs are on sale in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

The XC40 as a B3 or B4 mild hybrid, the XC60 as a B5 AWD or a T6 or T8 plug-in, the XC90 as a B5 or T8, and the electric EX30, EX40, EC40, EX60 and EX90. All are automatic, in trims from Core to Ultra.
