Question 1

What do the D, T and B badges on a used Volvo mean?

Accepted Answer

D marks a diesel, such as the D4 or D5, and T a petrol, such as the T4 or T5; a T6 or T8 called Twin Engine or Recharge is a plug-in hybrid. B, used from 2020, marks a mild hybrid, petrol or diesel.

Question 2

Do used Volvos have all-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Many do: AWD marks it on the XC40, XC60 and XC90, the Cross Country estates and stronger saloons and estates, and every T6 or T8 plug-in drives its rear wheels with an electric motor. Smaller engines usually drive the front wheels only.

Question 3

Does a used Volvo XC90 cost more in car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

In cantons that tax total weight, such as Bern, Aargau or St. Gallen, a seven-seat XC90 pays more than a lighter XC40. Cantons that tax displacement, such as Valais or Thurgau, treat its 2.0-litre engine like any other.

Question 4

Which versions does the new Volvo range come in?

Accepted Answer

New Volvos are either electric, the EX30, EX40, EC40, EX60, EX90 and ES90 from 238 to 680 PS, or petrol mild and plug-in hybrids, the XC40, XC60, XC90 and V60 from 163 to 461 PS. All are automatic, in trims from Core to Ultra.
