Question 1

What should I check on a used VW Golf GTE or eHybrid?

Accepted Answer

Whether it was charged regularly, and the health of the high-voltage battery, which a VW workshop can read out. A plug-in that was rarely plugged in has mostly run on petrol.

Question 2

What is the difference between VW eTSI and eHybrid?

Accepted Answer

eTSI is a 48-volt mild hybrid with a DSG gearbox: it assists the petrol engine and lets it switch off when coasting, but cannot drive on electricity alone. eHybrid is a plug-in hybrid that covers short trips electrically.

Question 3

Does a VW plug-in hybrid pay less car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the canton. Fribourg gives a hybrid 15% off, Aargau counts a plug-in hybrid with 10% less weight and 15% less power, and Ticino taxes a petrol hybrid's power at a lower factor than a petrol car's.

Question 4

Which hybrid versions does the new Volkswagen come in, in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

The new Golf comes as the eHybrid with 204 hp and the GTE with 272 hp, and the Golf and T-Roc also as the 1.5 TSI Hybrid with 136 or 170 hp. The Tiguan, Tayron, Passat, Caddy, Multivan, California and Caravelle come as eHybrid plug-ins, the Multivan and California with 4Motion, all automatic, at list price beside the used cars.
