Which petrol engine is best in a used VW Touran?

The 1.4 and 1.5 TSI with 150 hp suit a fully loaded seven-seater best. The smaller 1.0 and 1.2 TSI are enough for town but work hard on mountain passes.

What should I check on a VW Touran 1.4 TSI?

On first-generation cars, a rattle at cold start can point to a worn timing chain. On every TSI, check oil consumption and the service record.

Is a petrol or a diesel VW Touran better?

Petrol suits drivers who mostly cover short distances, as it avoids the diesel particulate filter, which needs long runs to clean itself. For long motorway trips and towing, the diesel uses less fuel.
