Question 1

How long does a Toyota hybrid battery last?

Accepted Answer

Toyota hybrid batteries commonly last the life of the car, and failures are rare even at high mileage. Ask for a hybrid health check at a Toyota garage, which also shows whether any battery warranty remains.

Question 2

Do you need to charge a used Toyota hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Not a self-charging one: the engine and braking recharge the battery. Only a plug-in Prius, C-HR or RAV4 is charged from a socket to drive further on electric power.

Question 3

Which used Toyota hybrid has four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

The RAV4 hybrid with AWD-i and the all-wheel-drive Yaris Cross, C-HR 2.0 and Corolla Cross 2.0, which use an electric motor on the rear axle. It helps on snowy roads but is no off-road system.

Question 4

Is car tax lower on a Toyota hybrid in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

In some cantons. Ticino applies a lower power factor to a petrol hybrid, Fribourg gives 15% off and Nidwalden halves the rate; elsewhere a hybrid pays like a petrol car of its size.

Question 5

What hybrids does Toyota sell new in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Self-charging Aygo X, Yaris, Yaris Cross, Corolla, Corolla Cross, C-HR and RAV4 models from 1.5 to 2.5 litres, plus plug-in C-HR, RAV4 and Prius, several with all-wheel drive.
