Question 1

Which used Skoda Fabia is the best buy?

Accepted Answer

A third-generation Fabia from the 2018 facelift with the 1.0 TSI is a sensible choice, simple and economical. The fourth generation, from 2021, is roomier and better equipped, but costs more.

Question 2

What should I check on a Skoda Fabia with the 1.2 TSI?

Accepted Answer

On the second-generation Fabia, early 1.2 TSI engines have a timing chain that can stretch, so listen for a rattle on a cold start. The third generation's 1.2 TSI uses a timing belt instead.

Question 3

Is there a Skoda Fabia with four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

No, every Fabia drives the front wheels only. On Swiss mountain roads in winter, good winter tyres are what matters.

Question 4

When did Skoda stop making the Fabia Combi?

Accepted Answer

The estate was built for the first three generations, until 2021. The fourth generation is a hatchback only, so a Fabia Combi is always a third-generation car or older.

Question 5

Which versions does the new Skoda Fabia come in?

Accepted Answer

The new Fabia is petrol-only: a 1.0 TSI with 95 PS and a manual gearbox or 116 PS with DSG, and a 1.5 TSI with 150 PS or 177 PS in the Fabia 130, with DSG. Trims are Selection, Monte Carlo and 130.
