Question 1

Does the Renault Kadjar or Austral have all-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

The Kadjar was offered with 4x4 on some diesel versions, and the Koleos on several versions. The Austral is front-wheel drive only, while the Rafale's 300 hp plug-in hybrid drives all four wheels.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Renault Captur?

Accepted Answer

On a first-generation Captur with the 1.2 TCe, check oil consumption, as that engine was known for burning oil. On EDC automatics, the gearbox should shift smoothly when cold and when manoeuvring.

Question 3

How does the Renault E-Tech full hybrid work in an SUV?

Accepted Answer

It pairs a petrol engine with two electric motors and a clutchless multi-mode gearbox, and always pulls away on electricity. It charges itself while driving and braking, so there is no cable to plug in.

Question 4

Which engines do new Renault SUVs have in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

The Captur and Symbioz come as 140 hp mild hybrids with EDC or as 160 hp E-Tech full hybrids; the Austral, Rafale and Espace as 200 hp E-Tech hybrids, and the Rafale also as a 300 hp 4x4 plug-in. The Renault 4 and Scenic are electric.
