Question 1

Which petrol engine is best in a used Porsche Cayenne?

Accepted Answer

The turbocharged V6 of the third generation is the most economical and plenty for daily use. The V8 in the GTS and Turbo adds performance and sound, but also fuel and running costs.

Question 2

What should I check on a first-generation petrol Porsche Cayenne V8?

Accepted Answer

The plastic coolant pipes beneath the intake manifold, which crack with age, and the propshaft centre bearing. Many cars have had both replaced, so ask for the invoices.

Question 3

How much car tax does a petrol Porsche Cayenne pay in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

There is no national figure: each canton taxes on its own basis, such as displacement in Valais and Graubünden, CO₂ in Geneva and Neuchâtel, or weight and power in Vaud and Lucerne. A big V8 therefore costs much more in some cantons than in others.

Question 4

Which petrol versions does the new Porsche Cayenne come in?

Accepted Answer

The new petrol Cayenne comes as the 353 hp V6, also as a Black Edition, the 474 hp S and the 500 hp GTS, both V8s, all with all-wheel drive and an automatic.
