Question 1

Which Porsche Cayenne generation is the best used buy?

Accepted Answer

The third generation, from 2017 and updated in 2023, is the most modern, with plug-in hybrids and newer driver assistance. A second-generation car from the 2014 update is the cheaper way in, with the same eight-speed automatic.

Question 2

What are the known weak points of a used Porsche Cayenne?

Accepted Answer

On the first-generation V8, the plastic coolant pipes under the intake manifold can crack, and the propshaft centre bearing wears. On any Cayenne check the air suspension, if fitted, and the brakes, which work hard on a heavy SUV.

Question 3

How heavy a trailer can a Porsche Cayenne tow?

Accepted Answer

Most Cayennes are rated to pull up to 3.5 tonnes with a braked trailer, which makes them popular for horseboxes and boats. The permitted trailer load of each car is shown in its Fahrzeugausweis.

Question 4

Which versions does the new Porsche Cayenne come in?

Accepted Answer

The new Cayenne comes as a petrol V6, as the S and GTS with V8s, as the E-Hybrid, S E-Hybrid and Turbo E-Hybrid plug-ins, and as the all-electric Cayenne Electric from 442 hp to 1,156 hp in the Turbo, all with all-wheel drive.
