Question 1

What goes wrong with the AdBlue system on a Peugeot BlueHDi?

Accepted Answer

The AdBlue tank, with its pump and heater, is a known weak point: a warning that the engine will not restart after a set distance often means it has failed. Check that the car shows no AdBlue warning and ask whether the tank was replaced.

Question 2

Is a diesel Peugeot worth it for short trips?

Accepted Answer

Rarely: the particulate filter needs regular longer runs at speed to clean itself, and constant short trips can clog it. A diesel suits drivers who cover long distances or tow.

Question 3

Which Peugeot diesel is best for towing a caravan?

Accepted Answer

The 2.0 BlueHDi, with 150 to 180 hp in the 508, 5008 and Traveller, pulls hardest. The permitted trailer load is in the Fahrzeugausweis and varies by version, so check it before buying.

Question 4

Which diesel versions does the new Peugeot range offer?

Accepted Answer

The new 308, 308 SW and Rifter come with the BlueHDi 130 and an automatic gearbox, and the Traveller with the BlueHDi 180 automatic, in standard or long length. Trims include Style, Allure and GT, and Business or Business VIP on the Traveller.
