Question 1

What should I check on a used Opel with the 1.2 Turbo engine?

Accepted Answer

Whether the timing belt, which runs in oil on this three-cylinder, was inspected or replaced on schedule. A worn belt can shed particles that block the oil pump's strainer.

Question 2

Which used Opel models have four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

The first Mokka, sold until 2019, the Antara, the Insignia 4x4 and the Grandland X Hybrid4, whose rear wheels are driven by an electric motor. The current Corsa, Astra, Mokka and Crossland drive the front wheels only.

Question 3

Is a GM-era or a Stellantis-era Opel the better used buy?

Accepted Answer

Neither is better across the board. GM-era cars such as the Astra K use Opel's own engines, while models from 2019 on, like the Corsa F, share Stellantis technology, electric versions included.

Question 4

Which versions does the new Opel range come in?

Accepted Answer

Every model comes as an electric car, and the Astra, Corsa, Mokka, Frontera and Grandland also as 48V hybrids, the Astra and Grandland as plug-ins too. Diesel remains on the Astra Sports Tourer, Combo and Zafira; trims run from Edition and GS to Ultimate and the sporty GSE.
