Question 1

Which engine is best in a used Opel Grandland X?

Accepted Answer

The 1.5 diesel is the economical choice for long distances, while the 1.2 Turbo petrol suits shorter trips. On the 1.2 Turbo, ask about the timing belt, which runs in oil and can wear early.

Question 2

Does the Opel Grandland X have four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Only the Hybrid4 plug-in hybrid, which drives the rear wheels with a second electric motor. The others are front-wheel drive, some with a selectable traction mode, so winter tyres matter in the mountains.

Question 3

What should I check on a used Opel Grandland X diesel?

Accepted Answer

The AdBlue system: the tank and pump on these BlueHDi diesels can fail, bringing up a warning and a countdown to a no-start. Also ask whether the car did enough longer runs for the particulate filter.

Question 4

Which versions of the new Opel Grandland are there?

Accepted Answer

The second Grandland comes as an electric with 210 to 325 PS and a 73 or 97 kWh battery, a 145 PS Hybrid 48V or a 225 PS plug-in hybrid, all automatic, in Edition, GS and Ultimate trims.
