Question 1

Which electric cars does Volvo sell new in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

The EX30, EX40, EC40, EX60 and EX90 SUVs and the ES90, an electric saloon. The EX30 is the smallest, the EX90 the largest with three rows of seats, and the EX30 and EX60 also come as raised Cross Country versions.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Volvo EX40 and EC40?

Accepted Answer

They share the platform, motors and batteries; the EC40 has a lower, coupé-like roofline. Until 2024 they were sold as the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge.

Question 3

Which new electric Volvos have all-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

The twin-motor versions: the EX30 P8 AWD and Cross Country, the EX40 and EC40 P8, the EX60 P10 and P12, and the EX90 and ES90 Twin Motor. The other versions have a single motor.

Question 4

Does a new electric Volvo pay car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

That depends on your canton. Zürich, Solothurn and Glarus exempt electric cars, Bern charges half and gives 60% off in the first years, while Geneva adds a surcharge by empty weight, so a heavy EX90 pays more there.
