Question 1

Which new Skoda diesels have 4x4?

Accepted Answer

The Karoq 2.0 TDI with 150 hp and every 193 hp version of the Kodiaq and Superb Combi drive all four wheels. The 150 hp Octavia Combi and Superb Combi diesels are front-wheel drive.

Question 2

Is a diesel Skoda still worth buying new?

Accepted Answer

For high annual mileage, motorway driving and towing a caravan or trailer, the 2.0 TDI remains economical, especially with 4x4. For short trips a petrol or plug-in hybrid suits better, as the particulate filter needs longer drives to regenerate.

Question 3

Does a new Skoda diesel need AdBlue?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the current 2.0 TDI uses AdBlue to cut nitrogen oxide emissions, and its tank must be topped up between services. The level shows on the dashboard well before it runs out.

Question 4

Is a diesel Skoda taxed more in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the canton: Ticino applies a slightly higher power factor to diesel than to petrol, while most cantons tax engine size, weight or power whatever the fuel. The holder's canton of residence decides.
