Question 1

What is the difference between SEAT's EcoTSI and eTSI engines?

Accepted Answer

EcoTSI is SEAT's name for the plain turbo petrol engines in the Ibiza and Arona. The eTSI in the Leon adds a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that assists when pulling away and lets the engine switch off while coasting.

Question 2

Can you still buy a new SEAT with a manual gearbox in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but only the Ibiza 1.0 EcoTSI with 115 hp. Every other new petrol SEAT, including every Leon and Arona, comes with the DSG automatic.

Question 3

Does a smaller petrol engine lower car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

In cantons that tax engine size, such as Solothurn or Valais, a 1.0 pays less than a 1.5. Cantons that tax weight or power, such as Bern or St. Gallen, look at other figures, and your canton of residence decides.

Question 4

Is a new SEAT petrol car worth it over a used one?

Accepted Answer

A new SEAT brings the full factory warranty and your choice of trim. A young used Ibiza, Arona or Leon of the current generation often has the same engines for less.
