Question 1

Should I buy a new saloon or an estate in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

An estate offers more load space and a wide tailgate, which is why many Swiss families prefer one. A saloon is usually a little lighter, which can lower the tax in cantons that tax weight, and several models, such as the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class, come as both.

Question 2

Which new saloons are electric in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Among them the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Polestar 2, BMW i4, Mercedes EQE and EQS, Porsche Taycan and Volvo ES90. Their annual tax depends on the canton: Zürich, Solothurn and Glarus exempt them, while others give a rebate or none.

Question 3

Is a new luxury saloon worth it over a used one?

Accepted Answer

Large saloons such as the Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series lose a big part of their value in their first years, so a young used one costs much less. A new one brings the full factory warranty and exactly the specification you order.
