Question 1

Which new Opel models still come with a diesel engine?

Accepted Answer

The Astra Sports Tourer estate, the Combo and the Zafira. In Switzerland the Astra diesel is offered only as the Sports Tourer, with the 1.5 diesel and 130 hp.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Opel Zafira and the Zafira XL?

Accepted Answer

The XL is the longer body, with more luggage space behind the rear seats. The Combo comes in a normal and an XL length too.

Question 3

Is a new diesel Opel worth it in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

For long motorway runs, towing or a fully loaded van, a diesel still uses less fuel than a petrol engine. For mostly short trips a hybrid or electric Opel suits better, as a diesel's particulate filter prefers longer journeys.

Question 4

Should I buy a new Opel diesel or a used one?

Accepted Answer

A new one brings the full factory warranty and an automatic on every version. A used Zafira or Astra diesel costs less, but its service history and particulate filter need checking.
