Question 1

Which engines does the new Mercedes-AMG SL have?

Accepted Answer

The SL 43 has a four-cylinder with 421 hp, while the SL 55 and SL 63 have a V8 with 476 and 585 hp and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. The SL 63 S E Performance adds an electric motor for 816 hp in total.

Question 2

What is the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance?

Accepted Answer

It is the plug-in hybrid SL, pairing the V8 with an electric motor on the rear axle for 816 hp. Its small battery is built for performance and gives only about 12 km of electric range.

Question 3

What is the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680?

Accepted Answer

The luxury version of the SL, with a 585 hp V8, its own Maybach styling and a more comfort-focused set-up. It sits beside the AMG versions in the Swiss price list.

Question 4

Does a new Mercedes SL pay car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the annual car tax of the holder's canton applies, and cantons that tax power, engine size or weight charge a V8 SL noticeably more. The automobile tax is already included in the list price.

Question 5

Should I buy a new Mercedes SL or a used one?

Accepted Answer

A new SL brings the factory warranty and your choice of specification, but loses much of its value in the first years. A used R231 or a young R232 costs far less for the same roadster experience.
