Question 1

Which engines does the new Mercedes S-Class have?

Accepted Answer

The S 350 d with 313 hp and S 450 d with 367 hp diesels, the S 450 with 381 hp, S 500 with 449 hp and V8 S 580 with 537 hp, and the S 450 e and S 580 e plug-in hybrids with 435 and 585 hp.

Question 2

How far does the Mercedes S 580 e go on electricity?

Accepted Answer

About 100 km, from a 22 kWh battery; the S 450 e manages a little more. Charged at home every night, much of a daily commute can be driven electrically.

Question 3

What is the difference between the S-Class and the long S-Class?

Accepted Answer

The long version has a longer wheelbase, and the extra length goes to rear legroom. It suits buyers who are driven or carry adults in the back; the Maybach goes further still.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used Mercedes S-Class?

Accepted Answer

An S-Class loses value quickly in its first years, so a young used one costs far less than new. A new one brings the full factory warranty, which counts on a car with this much technology.
