Question 1

Which powertrains does the new Hyundai Kona have?

Accepted Answer

A 1.6 GDi full hybrid with 138 hp, a 1.6 T-GDi petrol with 180 hp and all-wheel drive, both with a dual-clutch gearbox, and the Kona Electric with 156 or 217 hp. The hybrid and the Electric drive the front wheels.

Question 2

What range does the new Kona Electric have?

Accepted Answer

The 48.4 kWh battery with 156 hp is rated at 377 km WLTP, the 65.4 kWh battery with 217 hp at up to 513 km. The smaller battery comes only in the Origo trim.

Question 3

Is the Kona 4WD worth it in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

For mountain roads and snowy winters, the 1.6 T-GDi 4WD is the Kona to choose, and it is also the most powerful petrol version. The hybrid and the Electric are front-wheel drive only.

Question 4

Does the new Kona Electric pay car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the holder's canton. Zürich and Solothurn exempt electric cars, Bern halves the rate and Vaud exempts a new one for its first 24 months, while Schwyz and St. Gallen apply their usual formula.

Question 5

Should I buy a new Hyundai Kona or a used one?

Accepted Answer

A new Kona brings the roomier second generation and the full factory warranty. A used first-generation Kona costs less but is tighter inside.
