Question 1

What is the difference between Honda e:HEV and e:PHEV?

Accepted Answer

The e:HEV is a full hybrid that charges its small battery itself and never plugs in. The e:PHEV, offered on the CR-V, has a larger battery charged from the mains for longer electric driving.

Question 2

Do Honda hybrids have a gearbox?

Accepted Answer

Not a conventional one: the e:HEV uses a single fixed ratio, with an electric motor driving the wheels most of the time. It drives like an automatic, which is why every hybrid Honda is one.

Question 3

Does a Honda hybrid pay less car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the canton, which taxes on engine size, weight, power or CO₂. Where CO₂ counts, a hybrid's low emissions can help; elsewhere it pays like any petrol car of its size.

Question 4

Which new Honda hybrid is the largest?

Accepted Answer

The CR-V, a mid-size SUV offered as an e:HEV with 2WD or AWD and as an e:PHEV. The ZR-V and HR-V are smaller SUVs, the Jazz a small car and the Prelude a coupé.
