Question 1

Which versions of the new BMW X5 are sold in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

The X5 comes as the 40 xDrive petrol with 400 PS, the 40d xDrive diesel with 313 PS and two plug-in hybrids, the 50e xDrive with 489 PS and the M60e xDrive with 612 PS. All have all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox.

Question 2

How far does the BMW X5 plug-in hybrid drive on electricity?

Accepted Answer

Both plug-in hybrids carry a 26 kWh battery: the 50e is rated for about 105 km of electric range, the M60e for about 99 km. Charged every day, many commutes run without the engine.

Question 3

Is a new BMW X5 better than a used one in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

A new X5 brings the factory warranty and the specification you choose, but a large SUV loses much of its value in its first years. A young used X5 costs noticeably less and often keeps part of its warranty.

Question 4

Does a plug-in hybrid BMW X5 pay car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the annual car tax is set by your canton, on displacement, weight, power or CO₂ depending on the canton. Where weight counts, a heavy SUV pays more, while some cantons cut the tax for efficient cars.
