Question 1

What is the difference between Mercedes e and de hybrids?

Accepted Answer

Both plug in and can cover short distances on electricity alone. An e model pairs the battery with a petrol engine, a de model with a diesel, which suits long motorway runs and towing once the battery is empty.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Mercedes plug-in hybrid?

Accepted Answer

That the charging cable comes with the car, that the battery charges to full and that the electric range shown is plausible for its age. A plug-in that was rarely charged has mostly run as a heavier petrol or diesel car.

Question 3

Do hybrid Mercedes pay less car tax in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

In some cantons. Aargau counts a plug-in hybrid with 10% less weight and 15% less power, Fribourg takes 15% off a hybrid, and Ticino applies a lower power factor to hybrids than to petrol or diesel cars.

Question 4

Which new Mercedes are sold as hybrids in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Hybrid versions run from the A-Class and CLA through the C-, E- and S-Class to the GLB, GLC and GLE, plus the AMG GT and SL. All are automatic, at list price beside the used hybrids.
