Question 1

Which petrol engine is best in a used Land Rover?

Accepted Answer

For most drivers the 3.0 six-cylinder Ingenium mild hybrid, fitted since 2019 to the Range Rover Sport and later the Range Rover and Defender, balances power and economy. The four-cylinder petrols suit the Evoque and Velar but work hard in the bigger models.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Land Rover with the 5.0 V8?

Accepted Answer

Service history matters most: the supercharged V8 needs regular oil changes, and timing-chain wear shows as a rattle on a cold start. Check the air suspension too, since most V8 Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports ride on it.

Question 3

Is a petrol or diesel Land Rover better in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

A diesel suits long motorway and towing mileage, while a petrol suits shorter trips, with no particulate filter to clog. In cantons that tax on engine size, a big petrol V8 costs noticeably more each year.

Question 4

Which petrol versions does the new Land Rover range come in?

Accepted Answer

Land Rover sells new petrol versions of the Defender, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar and Evoque in Switzerland, all automatic. They run from mild-hybrid engines such as the Defender P380 with 380 PS up to the Range Rover P540 and the Defender OCTA's V8 with 540 PS.
