Question 1

How much car tax does a Lamborghini pay in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the holder's canton, which may tax displacement, power, weight or CO₂. With large engines and high emissions, a Lamborghini pays far more where the tax follows engine size, power or CO₂ than where it follows weight alone.

Question 2

What does it cost to import a used Lamborghini into Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

4% automobile tax and 8.1% import VAT on the price, but no customs duty. A nearly new car may also owe a CO₂ sanction, unless it was first registered abroad over 12 months earlier, or over 6 months earlier with more than 5,000 km.

Question 3

Should I buy a used Lamborghini from a dealer or privately?

Accepted Answer

A dealer charges 8.1% VAT on the whole price but usually adds a warranty and a checked history. A private sale carries no VAT, so have the car inspected by a Lamborghini specialist first.

Question 4

Is VAT charged on a classic Lamborghini like a Countach?

Accepted Answer

A car first registered more than 30 years before the sale counts as a collector's item, so a dealer may charge VAT on the margin only. On younger cars a dealer charges 8.1% VAT on the whole price.
