Question 1

Is the Ford Puma's PowerShift gearbox reliable?

Accepted Answer

The Puma's seven-speed PowerShift is a newer design than the troubled six-speed unit of older Fiestas and Focuses. On a test drive it should pull away and shift smoothly, without jerks or hesitation, and any software updates should be on record.

Question 2

Is there a Ford Puma ST automatic?

Accepted Answer

Yes, later Puma ST versions came with the PowerShift and a 1.0 EcoBoost. The original Puma ST with the 200 hp 1.5-litre was only sold with a manual.

Question 3

Does the electric Ford Puma Gen-E have a gearbox?

Accepted Answer

No, like most electric cars it has a single fixed ratio and drives like an automatic. It charges at home or on the road, and in some cantons pays reduced or no car tax.

Question 4

Which automatic versions does the new Ford Puma come in?

Accepted Answer

The new Puma automatic is either a 1.0 EcoBoost mild hybrid with the seven-speed PowerShift, at 125, 155 or 160 hp, or the electric Puma Gen-E with 168 hp and up to 419 km of range, at list price beside the used cars.
