Question 1

Does the Fiat 500X have all-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

Only some versions: the 500X 4x4 pairs all-wheel drive with a nine-speed automatic, while most have front-wheel drive. A 500X Cross is not automatically a 4x4, so check the exact version.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Fiat 500X automatic?

Accepted Answer

Front-wheel-drive automatics use a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the 4x4 a nine-speed torque converter. On a test drive the dual-clutch should pull away and creep in traffic without jerking.

Question 3

Is a front-wheel-drive Fiat SUV enough for Swiss winters?

Accepted Answer

On good winter tyres, a front-wheel-drive 500X or 600 copes with most roads in the lowlands and valleys. For steep, snowy access roads, a 500X 4x4 is the safer choice.

Question 4

Which versions does the new Fiat 600 come in?

Accepted Answer

The new 600 comes as a petrol mild hybrid with an automatic gearbox and as the electric 600e, both with front-wheel drive. Every version sits at its list price beside the used cars.
