Question 1

What are the weak points of a used Dacia Duster?

Accepted Answer

On older cars, rust on the underbody and around the wheel arches, made worse by road salt. On manual 4x4 cars that have towed, check the clutch.

Question 2

Which Dacia Duster engine is the best used buy?

Accepted Answer

The 1.3 TCe petrol of the second generation is lively and widespread, and the 1.5 dCi diesel suits high mileage and towing. On the third generation the Hybrid 140 saves fuel in town, while the 4x4 versions use a mild-hybrid petrol.

Question 3

How much is car tax on a used Dacia Duster in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the holder's canton. Where engine size counts, as in Valais or Thurgau, a 1.3 TCe stays modest; where weight and power count, as in Vaud or Lucerne, a 4x4 pays a little more.

Question 4

Should I buy a new or a used Dacia Duster?

Accepted Answer

A new Duster comes in Switzerland only as an automatic hybrid, the Hybrid 155 with front-wheel drive or the Hybrid 150 4x4, with the factory warranty. A used one offers manual gearboxes, diesel engines and lower prices.
