Question 1

Which petrol Cupra Formentor is the best buy?

Accepted Answer

The 1.5 TSI is the economical choice for town and motorway. The 2.0 TSI with 4Drive costs more to run but gives the traction many Swiss buyers want in winter and in the mountains.

Question 2

Is the Cupra Formentor 2.0 TSI engine reliable?

Accepted Answer

The 2.0 TSI is a widely used Volkswagen group engine and is considered robust with regular oil changes. On a used one, ask for the service history and listen for unusual noises at a cold start.

Question 3

What makes the Cupra Formentor VZ5 special?

Accepted Answer

It is the only Formentor with the 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo, giving 390 hp with 4Drive and DSG, and it was built in limited numbers. Its tyres and brakes are costly, so check their condition.

Question 4

Does engine size affect car tax on a petrol Formentor in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

In cantons that tax displacement, such as Graubünden, Solothurn or Valais, the 2.0 TSI and the 2.5-litre VZ5 pay more than the 1.5. Other cantons tax weight, power or CO₂, so it depends on where you live.

Question 5

Which petrol versions does the new Cupra Formentor come in?

Accepted Answer

The new petrol Formentor comes as the 1.5 eTSI with 150 hp, the 2.0 TSI 4Drive with 204 or 333 hp in VZ and Extreme trims, and the VZ5 with 390 hp, all with DSG.
