Question 1

Why did Chevrolet leave Europe?

Accepted Answer

General Motors withdrew the brand's mainstream models at the end of 2015 to concentrate on Opel in Europe, keeping only the Corvette and the Camaro. Existing cars kept their warranty and service at partner garages.

Question 2

Can you still get parts for a Chevrolet in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

Mostly yes: the Captiva, Cruze and Orlando share many parts with Opel models of the same platforms, and independent garages and parts dealers still supply them. Model-specific body parts can take longer to find.

Question 3

Is the Chevrolet Corvette mid-engined?

Accepted Answer

Since the eighth generation, the C8 unveiled in 2019, yes: its V8 sits behind the cabin. Every earlier Corvette, up to the C7, has the engine at the front.

Question 4

How is an American Chevrolet imported into Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

An import pays the 4% automobile tax and 8.1% VAT, but no customs duty. The canton's road traffic office then inspects it, and a car built to US standards may need changes, for example to its lights, before it is registered.
