Question 1

Which used BMW M4 generation should I look for?

Accepted Answer

The F82 M4, from 2014 to 2020, has a twin-turbo straight six with a manual or dual-clutch gearbox. The G82, from 2021, has more power, a large grille and a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, with xDrive available on the Competition.

Question 2

Is a used BMW M2 a good buy?

Accepted Answer

The first M2, from 2016, is a compact rear-drive coupé, and from 2018 the Competition took the M4's engine. The second generation, from 2023, is larger and heavier. On any M car, check for track use, tyre wear and the brakes.

Question 3

Is a rear-wheel-drive BMW coupé usable in a Swiss winter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with good winter tyres, which matter far more than the drivetrain. For regular mountain driving, an xDrive version such as the M440i is the easier choice.

Question 4

Which versions does the new BMW 4 Series Coupé come in?

Accepted Answer

The new 4 Series Coupé comes as the 420i, 420d xDrive, 430i xDrive, 430d xDrive and the M440i and M440d xDrive, all automatic, while the M4 is also offered with a manual gearbox, at list price beside the used cars.
