Question 1

Which Audi A6 generation should I buy used?

Accepted Answer

The C8, from 2018, has mild-hybrid technology on its engines and a fully digital cockpit. The C7, from 2011 to 2018, costs less; early front-drive automatics with the multitronic CVT need the closest check.

Question 2

What are the Audi A6's known weak points?

Accepted Answer

The multitronic CVT in front-drive C6 and early C7 cars, the air suspension of the allroad, and timing chains on early 3.0 TDIs at high mileage. On later diesels, check that the particulate filter and AdBlue system work.

Question 3

Is the Audi A6 allroad worth it in Switzerland?

Accepted Answer

It suits mountain roads and snow: it has quattro, more ground clearance and, on most versions, adjustable air suspension. That suspension is costly to repair, so check the car holds its height overnight.

Question 4

Which versions does the new Audi A6 come in?

Accepted Answer

The new A6 is an Avant with quattro and S tronic: TDI diesels with 204 or 299 PS, a 367 PS TFSI petrol, and e-hybrid plug-ins with 299 or 367 PS and a 21 kWh battery.
