Should I avoid the multitronic in a used Audi A5?

It is the gearbox to check most carefully: a worn multitronic judders or slips when pulling away. It was only fitted to front-wheel-drive first-generation A5s, so quattro and second-generation cars do without it.

What should I check on the S tronic of a used Audi A5?

Ask for proof that the gearbox oil was changed as Audi specifies, as old oil is a common cause of rough shifts and mechatronic faults. On a test drive, watch for jerks at low speed and when reversing.

Is there a used Audi A5 with a manual gearbox?

Yes, both earlier generations were offered with a manual on some engines, but automatics are far more common among used A5s in Switzerland.

Is the new Audi A5 only available as an automatic?

Yes: every new A5 has S tronic, whether TFSI with 204 or 272 PS, TDI with 204 PS or e-hybrid quattro with 299 or 367 PS, as saloon or Avant.
